EUROPE August 11, 1999 VNN4477 Comment on this story Paris Temple Campaign & Alarming Situation BY ARISTANASANA DASA PARIS, FRANCE, Aug 11 (VNN) — Letter to the GBC & ISKCON: Paris Temple campaign & alarming situation. To all the GBC members, sannyasis and elder devotees of ISKCON, and the general population of devotees. Dear Maharajas, Dear Prabhus, Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. I want to inform you, for your quick reaction, that his Holiness Param Gati swami, acting as GBC for France as well as as Temple president for Paris, is facing great fatigue in trying to manage and buy a temple for Their Lordship Sri Sri RADHAPARISISVARA, Sri JAGANNATH, Sri BALADEVA and Srimati SUBHADRA, and Sri Sri GAURA NITAI. In that desperate situation, some of the devotees are trying to convince him to disseminate the Deities to different regions of France and start again the full temple at a later date. We all understand what does it mean! My understanding is that certainly the leaders of ISKCON and the general population of devotees are not being inform of the situation properly by the leadership of the Temple of Paris, who are not calling for help or are trying to hide this as a very small problem but in fact so terrible. In a few words, please allow me to present to you all, the situation in France in 1986: When Bhagavan left, the movement collapsed in France because of his mismanagement after Srila Prabhupada departure: we lost everything, - we lost the property of the Deities in Paris, - we lost the properties of the Deities in New Mayapura, - we lost the French BBT. His Holiness Bhakti Caru swami took upon himself, with his disciples and the local devotees to buy again New Mayapura and save this wonderful gift of Srila Prabhupada, that Holy Dhama: the only residence of Srila Prabhupada left in ISKCON in continental Europe. Today it is fully paid with no debts, it is supervised and managed by a board of devotees. The BBT was taken over by the North European BBT after we lost everything in 1986. So now, what is dramatic is the situation of Their Lordships in Paris. Srila Prabhupada did install Them in 1973 but today They still do not have Their own property. Their Temple was dilapidated: 2 000 000, 00 US$ of property lost in 1986 and all the elders devotees have left. Only his Holiness Param Gati swami, who came to France from Brazil 10 years ago, is here, with so few devotees, trying to care for the Deities. So, I am appealing to the leaders of ISKCON, the GBC and sannyasis to come to the help of Param Gati swami and the humble servants of Sri Sri Radha Krishna Parisisvara, Sri Jagannath, Baladeva & Subhadra and Sri Sri Gaura Nitai, to buy a home for Their Lordships in Paris. The present situation is a shame for Srila Prabhupada on the part of his disciples, an insult to him from our side by disregarding, in an offensive way, the terrible situation of the Deities in Paris and their poor servants in the Temple. I am asking the GBC of ISKCON to take action and do the needful to buy a temple to Their Lordships urgently. I propose, dear Maharajas, dear Prabhus GBC members of ISKCON: that you name an international board of directors to supervise the affairs of the Temple and the campaign to buy a temple for Their Lordships in Paris. that you name a board of administrators to manage and administrate the daily affairs of the Temple of Paris that you name a board of administrators to manage and administrate the campaign and the fund raising to buy a new temple for Their Lordships in Paris that you bless and advertise all over the world the campaign to buy a temple for the dear Beloved Ones of Srila Prabhupada in Paris. Dear Maharajas, dear Prabhus, we are ready to help you in this matter; we hope you will kindly take the matter as an emergency case and do the needful.
