EDITORIAL September 4, 1999 VNN4655 Comment on this story Your Ambition, Our Ambition BY TARUN KRSNADAS EDITORIAL, Sep 4 (VNN) — Vyasapuja Offering for Srila Prabhupad's 103rd Appearance Anniversary Celebration Dear Srila Prabhupad, please accept my humble dandavat pranams at your lotus feet. It has been 22 years since we last saw your lotus face walking and talking amongst us. Following in your lotus footsteps you have so many disciples and grand-disciples inspired by your example, practicing and pushing on Mahaprabhu's mission worldwide. How can one insignificant disciple attempt to glorify you? Still it is our duty to openly express at least once per year, the sentiments we feel for you all year long. This past year has been grand in that daily, more and more vaisnavas are communicating by Internet and email. For your sincere followers I see this Internet as a blessing, a veritable siddhi, a chance to express their Krsna consciousness to each other and the world like never before, without any interference from unscrupulous persons. You told us how your German godbrothers approached your gurudev, Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakur with the realization that by western technology all the asta-siddhis, the 8 mystic perfections had already been achieved. They were not approaching him for that. Instead they wanted to know about God and how to develop love for God. In my own life you've connected me to a world filled with vaisnavas. By Your Divine Grace, I've been able to dandavat, meet, see and hear from many of your wonderful godbrothers and your godnephews, their sisyas. By re-reading your Vyasapuja offerings to YOUR gurudev, I've been able to gradually get a clearer understanding of guru-tattva, seeing that same current of divine instruction you gave me, emanating from many forms, many other gurus besides yourself. You were once asked, "How many more are there like you? You answered, " About 100." By your Divine Grace I've been able to recognize some of those 100. Your sisya Akincana das recently hosted one of those 100 in Phoenix. Akincana das told me of how you had invited Bhaktivallabha Tirtha Mhrj to fly to the West with you 30 yrs ago. At that time he had asked his gurudev Srila Bhaktidayita Madhava Mhrj for permission to go. But as he was very much needed and busily engaged in India, permission was not granted. Still in 1997, when Bhaktivallabha Tirtha Mhrj did finally make that trip west to Phoenix, he expressed to Akincana das his regret for not having come sooner, meaning 30 yrs ago with you. He held his head down in deep thought after saying this. Dear Srila Prabhupad, Guru mukha padma vakya, cittete kariya aikya ara na kariha mane asha Your instructions were/are so magnanimous. You not only imparted to us transcendental knowledge, but practical mundane knowledge also. You taught us what to HAVE faith in and what NOT to have faith in. Such was/is your mercy. 1) You taught us that they, NASA, never went to the moon. In 1969, you tested your own sisya. "My dear Syamasundar das, Srimad Bhagavatam says that in Kaliyuga no one can travel to other planets including the moon. Yet this newspaper says that NASA has gone to the moon! Shall I throw this SRIMAD BHAGAVATAM into the dustbin?" Everyone was silent but watching closely. "No! I shall throw this NEWSPAPER into the dustbin." And there it flew, a perfect landing. 2) You taught us that anything can be manufactured in a television laboratory. If you were here in person I would love to show you the films 'Capricorn One', 'Wag the Dog' and others which clearly prove exactly what you spoke so long ago. 3) You taught us that the post World War II anti-Nazi concentration camp propaganda fabricated mostly by Uncle Joe Stalin and other atheists posing themselves as pious or religious leaders was all phony. All of it. The statistics, the rumors, the hearsay, all bogus. "Just to make their own position secure, " you stated. Now, 30 yrs later, everything you said on this subject is ringing true to the T. Everything. 4) You taught us that the real holocaust is the one Srila Narottam das Thakur is singing of in his song: Hari Hari Viphale. Dear Srila Prabhupad, During and/or after your disappearance many of your tapes were removed from your BBT archives. On one such tape you say you are being poisoned. You said it in 3 different languages so no one born in India or the West could deny it. (except for those that live in denial) We know your voice. We believe your voice. Some find it hard to believe. Truth is stranger than fiction. We're working on them. You told your sisya Kirtanananda das that a vaisnava should not have ambition. But then you said, "My ambition is to create a revolution in consciousness." In the words of your sisya Yasodanandana das, "This you have done in grand style." Those of us who heard you attentively and wholistically will try to carry out your ambition, the spreading of Mahaprabhu's mission, making it our ambition as well... till our last dying breath...
