Marching Majestically Like An Elephant

BY ARIJIT DAS

EDITORIAL, Sep 2 (VNN) — At once it was heard from a distance the noise of the cows, along with the most enchanting music of the Flute (of Krishna) and also the blowing of the buffalo horn (of Balarama). Ah it poured into the ears of the Brahmin as well as of Sri Sarupa (Guru and disciple); they both immediately got up and ran towards the direction from which side the music was coming. Glory, glory, they could meet Sri Gopaladeva (Sri Krishna) Whose Effulgence was so brilliantly shining that it illuminated the entire forest.

Sri Krishna after giving a drink to the cows in the Yamuna was just coming in a dancing pasture associated with His comrade-cowherd boys. What an enchantment! The Lord of Love-Transcendental was marvelously shining in His Adolescence, the very boundless ocean of Beatitude; as it were, the brilliantly shining graceful charm of His Person which is the supreme attraction and feast of the mind and of the eyes; the charming beautiful aspect of His Person is as such as if in every moment it becomes more brilliant.

All the thirty-two glorious signs are visible in His Body. There are Kadamba-flowers on His ears, there is a pearl necklace around His conch-shaped Neck and peacock-tails on the crown of His Head and wearing with yellowish garment; on both sides of His Breast are Sri-rekha and Srivatsa-rekha and the Gunja-mala swings on it, His Waist is as thin as a lion's but the very appearance shows as powerful as of one hundred of lions; and the lotus Feet, the very treasure of the universe are shining. Garlands of Kadamba flowers, Gunja-beads, Tulasi-leaves, Shikhanda, Pravala (pearls) are beautifully swinging. His Waist is decorated with the garlands of varieties of flowers as well as with gold ornaments.

Both His Hands are touching the Knees and they are bedecked with gold-bangles and gold-bracelets and the Fingers of His Hands are dancing holding the holes of the Flute when kissed by His Lips. Ah the song of the Flute not only enchants the whole universe but also the Lord Himself. His both Lotus Eyes are also dancing. His dancing Eyebrows are to create thrilling joy in the hearts of the devotees; the smiling moon-like Face, nay, attracts the heart of the great munis. On the tip of His brilliant Nose there is a most precious pearl. Sometimes in the blown up dust He makes busy himself to re-dress His curling hairs which have fallen on His forehead by His Fingers, it so appears as if the bumble-bees are dancing amidst the dust that are blown out of cow's movement.

As there are endless waves in the ocean so too the mysterious Lord enacts endless Leelas at one and same time! Ah the prankful Lord is having on His forehead Tilakam with the clay of the Yamuna in a shape of eight-day moon and the whole body is more beautified having the saffron-color. Oh ho, sometimes He stands in His Triple-bent-posture and kissing the Flute with His Lips; again other times stately dancing or marching majestically like an elephant at which His fellowmen are extremely delighted. Nay, the mother earth is feeling delight to have His footprints marked on her breast. Sri Balarama, the other-self of the Lord is also equally shining amidst the herd of the companions. Sri Balarama as He is having pure milky-white complexion of His Person and wearing bluish cloth brings the charm to all.

This Drop of Nectar is found in part II of Srila Sanatan Goswami's Sri Brihat Bhagavatamritam. Submiited for the pleasure of the devotees by Arijit Das
