Vaishnava Of Good Character
BY BAHUDAK DASA
EDITORIAL, May 28 (VNN) Dear prabhus, (see also VNN story #3927)
I am writing to give my personal reference to the character and demeanour of Guru Prasad Swami. Last fall I spent a week with him in various circumstances and found him to be indeed a nice amigo; courteous, modest, and even tempered, despite long meetings and a very rigourous schedule. We spent many hours driving together and talked of many things. I specifically remember asking about Radha Krishna dasa as he is an old godbrother. He did not say much but I remember that he did not say anything derogatory or nasty which impressed me as the sign of a Vaishnava of very good character.
It has also being my impression in the last two years that he is remarkably unchanged in attitude now that he is a GBC and guru. (I knew him years ago when he was a "regular" devotee.) I am quite alert to the subtle indications of pride and delusions of importance that often creep into the attitude of those in high position. I did not find these in him.
For me he remains a beacon of hope that an ISKCON leader can be a nice person and fair and decent in his dealings with all. I find it a sad sign of the times that such an unassuming and hardworking devotee should be vilified in the public press. I completely accept his explanation and believe him to be fully innocent of the accusations made by Radha Krishna prabhu.
your servant, Bahudak dasa
