BY TARUN KRSNADAS EDITORIAL, May 27 (VNN) — As we can hear on the now famous July 1977 recording, TKG asks Srila Prabhupad: "Is this called rtvik? Rtu means season. Rtvik is the adjective meaning seasonal. Everyday we ask, "How's the weather?" The weather is never the substance of our daily routine. Still we daily inquire, "Rain, sunshine, hot, cold, what gives?" We know that the sun can never be covered by clouds, but those of us below the clouds can be covered. Prabhupad used to point this out at 37,000 feet while flying above the clouds himself accompanied by disciples. My temple, mission or mind can also become cloud-covered. Similarly guru-tattva and visnu-tattva can never be covered by cloudy misconceptions but we tiny jivas can be. Rtvik is not bad; its ephemeral, like the weather. We cannot do without the weather; neither is the weather the essence of what we do. Therefore, the word rtvik is appropriate. The bonafide guru affords his disciples all Vedic knowledge. How many of those disciples can grasp what gurudev has given? That remains to be seen. And heard. Actually we cannot see anything. Our eyes, our spiritual vision has also been given by gurudev's explanation of sastra. We cannot see who is genuine or not. We have no such vision. Who amongst us could have recognized Srila Gaur Kisordas Babaji or Srila Vamsidas Babaji? Our vision is so external. As if clothing was all-important. Birdcage washers beware! Srila Prabhupad, Founder-Acharya of ISKCON, gave us so many instructions. Ideally each of us will follow what we can understand. Those who have managerial motivations (ksatriya) or business motivations (vaisya) will be supported and followed by those of sudra type but never by those who have comprehended gurudev's most esoteric ideals, brahmanas. Brahmanas can advise those of lower motivation. In 1977, those of lower motivation deemed it necessary to eliminate Prabhupad from the scene. He was bad for business, their nefarious business. According to Srila Prabhupada's astrological chart, read in August 1977, he was to live 6 more years if he could get past the next 6 months. It was a chaotic time. We put our faith in those surrounding Prabhupad. That was our fatal mistake. I don't want to be forgiven for that, but I do want to learn from it. Never again! Srila Prabhupad connected us to a whole world full of vaisnavas more advanced than ourselves. He specifically mentioned and recommended us to go to at least 2 other vaisnav gurus before leaving us: Srila Bhaktiraksaka Sridhar Mhrj and Srila Bhaktivedanta Narayan Mhrj. The instruction is not limited to 2. Neither can the instruction be denied. Those who suppressed and continue to suppress Prabhupad's last instructions are of lesser type, either of lower motivation or ill-motivated. Less intelligent persons have to choose between the lower and the ill. They cannot see beyond this. They refuse to see beyond this. Srila Bhaktivedanta Narayan Mhrj, Srila Bhaktivallabha Tirtha Mhrj and others are currently touring North America and Europe. Avoid their association. Hold on to your lower conceptions.
