Grind The Deities?

BY RANGA PURI DAS

EDITORIAL, May 18 (VNN) — Some people in the guise of Prabhupada's followers are proposing that the Deities and their paraphernalia are objects to be materially quantified, dismantled and mathematically divided by the representatives of a mundane society of cow and baby killers and eaters, in order to get a reward. Moreover, this thought is proudly presented by these as a devotional service to the great soul who begged the Lord to accept the service of his disciples, grown mostly in the cosmetically disguised sinful environment of the modern western society. Jokingly sometimes His Divine Grace would smile at yavanas and mlechas efforts to change their habits and sinful mentality out of usually sincere attempts to surrender under his inspiration.

Unfortunately these habits have not changed much, not from the side of the official leadership (often self-imposed by hook or by crook) nor from many that point their fingers to them, which now propose to "throw out the dirty water with the baby".

A little humility is required to step down from our self appraised positions, which would not be difficult, if we stopped the illusion of being liberated paramahansas and perfected beings and show readiness to rectify mistakes to make a difference, and of course the acceptance of our fallen condition and admittance of our obvious - at best - kanishtha adhikari plays.

Of course these ideas of greatness are strongly enforced with papers such as OOPS ... (Our original position), where these "pandits" entertain their naive audience with ideas that they (or we!) have come from Goloka (the planet of the cows) Vrindavan, just prior to the cow flesh eating pastime on mrityo. (Tarun Krsna's article on this regard is very graphic).

Please let us try to accept that God exists. For neophytes, at least in His arca vigraha form! Civilized societies throughout history always search for blessings and help from more advanced elders and this could bring about a real difference for us. We are lacking real sadhu sanga; currently ours has become sad (very sad) sanga, absorbed in our bubble dream that our sanskrit name has made us enlightened sadhus.

Do you think any real senior vaisnava would advice dismanteling the Deities paraphernalia and seeking justice from non-devotees, just to get some money into the pockets? This is exactly like grinding the deities to profit from the metal. Purnamisika bhavah -again become a mouse!
