EDITORIAL April 20, 1999 VNN3652 Twenty Years In Dreamland BY JAGANNATHA DASA EDITORIAL, Apr 20 (VNN) — After the demise of our beloved Srila Prabhupada in 1977 our similarly revered ISKCON fell into a deep abyss of scandal, fraud and cruelty often beyond the limits of ordinary comprehension. Still, many have clung to this money spinning machine of debauchery and avarice known today as ISKCON out of some misplaced hope that it might one day purge itself and rise from the ashes a shinning phoenix ready to once again welcome all sincere seekers of truth. Alas, my dear Godbrothers and saintly Godsisters it cannot and will not happen! I promise you that Srila Prabhupada (were he physically present with us now) would NEVER be sentimental about six simple letters (ISKCON) when measured against the almost moment to moment Vaishnava aparada carried on his divine name (not to speak of Srimati Radharani and Sri Krsna's) by some GBC. I even have a tape on which Srila Prabhuada states that if ISKCON ever becomes counter productive to the spreading of the Yuga Dharma then we should simply toss it out and start over! So much valuable time is being wasted obsessing about that which has been forever lost. Let us now gather our courage and simply move forward together. All this perpetual mealing and pewking in the name of ISKCON is only Maya's trick. Let's uncover the real ISKCON, one that can never be tarnished or expolited. The eternal ISKCON wherein all vaishnava's are welcome and encouraged to exercise their talents in the service of the Supreme Lord. Forget those ivory towers of conceit occupied by our fallen leaders. ISKCON was never about real estate or evil sanyasi's with gold cards. Wasn't it Krsna Consciousness we were after? What has that got to do with any so-called ashram, veggie cafe or out of control political bureaucracy? I therefore humbly propose that the time has come not to try and take over anything, but rather, move on. Leave those that would profit from Krsna in this world to guard their mortar and steel for as long as time allows. But let us, those propertyless beggars in the name of Sri Krsna march on under the banner of our brave and liberating Vaishnava Seva. Never looking back, never regretting, never faltering in our quest for service to all. It's the only right thing to do. In fact it is our only reasonable option. May God help us.
