For The Sake Of Historical Clarification
BY HARI HARA DAS
EDITORIAL, Mar 18 (VNN) For the sake of historical clarification: Harikesh Swami.
It is a fact that Harikesh Swami has been involved severely in committing grave Vaisnava aparadh. To save all others from this most horrible situation let me relate to you what he and Kirtanananda did in 1981.
It is actually surprising that the reaction took such a long time to manifest.
Devotees are trying to make too much service to Srila Prabhupada responsible for his condition. That is an offense to devotional service. Be honest and you will be forgiven and you can rectify.
Anyhow, judge for yourself.
Three young man from Iskcon had approached Srila Sridhar Maharaj for Sannyas after the first Iskcon Guru fall downs manifested in the beginning of the eighties.
Srila Sridhar Maharaj awarded Sannyas to them and asked them to continue their service in Iskcon. They went to the GBC meeting and requested to be assigned some service in Iskcon.
The GBC met and discussed their request.
Kirtanananda said in that meeting: "We do not want these people back in Iskcon. I kick them personally in the head."
Harikesha Swami said: "I agree with you and will give a second kick."
When the GBC friend told the Sannyasis of Sridhar Maharaj about this exchange they went back and told Srila Sridhar Maharaj. He was mortified. Only then he told them that they will have to continue their preaching independent from Iskcon.
You all know what happened to Kirtananda's head and now we see what is happening to the head of Harikesh. I pray for their recovery to understand that great devotees should never be minimized or offended. Their story is teaching this to all of us in a very painful way.
