EDITORIAL March 15, 1999 VNN3331 ISKCON Book Project Response BY KULASEKHARA DAS EDITORIAL, Mar 15 (VNN) — All Glories to Sri Guru & Gouranga! All Glories to Srila Prabhupada, the topmost swanlike devotee of Lord Krsna! I wish to thank all of the devotees who have responded to my call for stories regarding their service in ISKCON during Srila Prabhupad's time with us. I had more initial response than I had hoped for and it is so encouraging to hear the honest enthusiasm of the devotees for this project. I would like to clarify a few things in regards to this ISKCON Book Project, and as I complete the stories I will post some of them on VNN and PADA so that you may share these inspirational stories as they are catalogued. Hopefully as other devotees share these stories of devotion, it will jog their memories and they will also participate. In conversation with my dear godbrother Murlidar the other evening, he was voicing concern as to whether I would be putting a spin' on this book, as he knows my intense disgust at the current GBC and Guru management of ISKCON. I assured him that I would NOT be adding a spin', as it is my firm belief that the documentation of the actual devotee stories of their experiences of ISKCON will tell the truth better than anything I could create. When all of the stories are compiled, reviewing how all these sincere devotees came to Srila Prabhupad's lotus feet, the joy and bliss and magic that they experienced during their time in the ashram, and then their true stories of how they were each either, thrown out, kicked out, mistreated, discouraged, degraded and generally eliminated from ISKCON by these voted-in' self realized swamis and Governing Body Manglers, that the truth will become self-evident. The truth after all is where the power lies, and it is high time that the truth was told. We know how corrupt and devious these enlightened' men are, its time the world knew, yet they should also know the wonder and the beauty and the magic that came from serving the pure devotee Srila Prabhupada. I am honest, and a man of my word. This is YOUR Book. I am simply willing to document YOUR stories for the future. As Murli pointed out, it IS the most incredible story ever. Six thousand hippies came together and in ten short years from nothing, published and sold more books than any religious group in the world, and opened centers all over the world. This story must be told, and you are the only one's who can tell it. Also Murli emphasized the fact that it HAS to be a historical document, told in YOUR own words. I know there are some incredible and amazing stories regarding devotees experiences - just in everyday life, where Krsna has stepped in and had influence on devotees lives. As I mentioned, even if it is as simple as not having any money for bhoga and someone donates a truckload of vegetables or whatever. It can be book distribution stories, other devotee stories, devotee ghost stories, realization stories, travel stories. As our line is dynamic and alive, so Krsna is alive in their lives, sometimes direct, but mostly invisible. I want them all, as a beekeeper collects honey and then shares it with the world, I wish to gather YOUR nectar and publish it for the world to see. Thank you for your participation.
