EDITORIAL November 11, 1998 VNN2488 Srila Prabhupada Lives! (The Dream) BY VAIKUNTHA@HOTMAIL.COM
EDITORIAL, Nov 11 (VNN) "He lives forever by his divine instructions and the follower lives withhim." Srila Prabhupada-SB 1-1.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada. Please accept my humble obeisances. Thefollowing is a dream I had on November 6, 1998. I am sharing this dreamwith Vaisnavas because I feel that the dream has a "collective" elementto it as opposed to "individualistic". In addition, I feel the dream isa very positive one especially with so much cynicism these days. Here wego on another "Vedic adventure".
I had been ill all week with a bout of pneumonia and fell asleep around12:30 PM. I awoke again at 2:30 because I thought I had to pick up mydaughter but realized she was on a trip. I was somewhat out of it andtaking medication. Prior to going back to sleep I had read some slokasin the 5th canto of SB-Jada Bharata instructs King Rahugana and thendozed off again.
As you know, dreams about the spiritual master or even devotees for thatmatter cannot be forced. Although I have had some dreams about SrilaPrabhupada over the last 20 years, this seemed different.
I was in a temple... it was a bright, sunny day and there were a numberof devotees sitting and standing about. It felt like it was after akirtan. The temple itself seemed somewhat modern, as though it would bea temple of the not-too-distant-future and the feeling was very"celestial".
I was going to show my obeisances when all of a sudden I looked up andsaw Srila Prabhupada. I was completely elated and he had this incredibleyouthful, energetic energy as he moved about the temple room. He lookedthe same as he did in his seventies of course. You know how dreams are.
As I was walking to another part of the temple, a Vaisnavrini dressed infull sari, her head covered, smiled at me brilliantly and I said, "SrilaPrabhupada is so youthful today". She acknowledged me by saying "Yes,isn't this incredible!" Or some such statement while at the same time, Igot that safe feeling that Srila Prabhupada was back and that everythingwould be all right and that ISKCON would be unified etc.
Suddenly, an entourage of young men and women, like college-age studentsbegan coming into the temple, maybe a hundred or so and then were ledout the other end of the temple by a teacher or whatever. The studentslooked curious and I wished that they had stopped to take darshan of theSrimad-Bhagavatam and meet Srila Prabhupada.
Then Srila Prabhupada, as he was walking to another part of the temple, looked at me and gave me this unbelievable smile. I was feelingself-conscious as I didn't want the older Godbrothers and sisters toperhaps feel... envious?? I mean, who am I? I'm just a fallen prostitutehunter, you know?
I suddenly woke up. I sat up in bed, tremendously enlivened and feelingelated and energetic. The dream felt prophetic and at that moment I hadno doubts about ISKCON and the Vedas being the lawbooks for mankind forthe next 10,000 years. Many people will come and it will be an excitingtime. Perhaps within the next 20 years this will happen.(My hunch).
We must now work together in harmony and cooperate, I know it issometimes difficult. This was Srila Prabhupada's desire. He was alwaysconcerned about us and this movement. He was and is Krsna's own.
We must have this positive vision of the future. Srila Prabhupada liveswithin the hearts of his sincere and pure devotees. That's a fact.
