EDITORIAL  Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math Calendar BY DEVASHIS DAS EDITORIAL, Mar 9 (VNN) — Sri Sri Guru Gaurangau Jayatah! Dear Devotees of Sriman Mahaprabhu Please accept my dandabat pranam. I would just like to set the record straight regarding the article "New Vaishnava Calenders" by Tirthapada das, in respect to Srila Bhakti Prajana Keshava Maharaj not being mentioned in the Calender of the Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math. Firstly this has nothing to do with the "dispute of the present leaders", whatever that means! But rather Srila Keshava Maharaj's name has not been published in the Chaitanya Saraswat Math calender since the manifest time of Srila Bhakti Rakshak Sridhar Maharaj himself. It was Srila Sridhar Maharaj who omitted Srila Keshava Maharaj's name. Why? Srila Sridhar Maharaj (as rightly pointed out by Sri Tirthapada Prabhu) was recognised as Shastra Nipuna by Sri Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakur and himself personally calculated the dates to celebrate the appearance and dissapearance of Srila Keshava Maharaj, and these dates were published in the Chaitanya Saraswat Math calender. These dates differed from the dates published by the disciples of Srila Keshava Maharaj and they objected to Srila Sridhar Maharaj, that if he would not use their dates rather than his own calculation, then it would be better if he ommited Srila Keshava Maharaj's name from his calender altogether. Srila Sridhar Maharaj could not alter his calculation to one he considered (in his judgement as Shastra Nipuna) as inaccurate, and so reluctantly he obliged the disciples' request and so since that time Srila Keshava Maharaj is not included in the Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math calender. I leave the readers to decide who is disrespecting who in this regard. Finally I would like to inform the readers that the divine glories of Srila Keshava Maharaj are often and deeply sung by Srila Bhakti Sundar Govinda Maharaj, the Acharyya of Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math who had much personal association with Srila Keshava Maharaj and regards him with much love and affection and with the deepest respect befitting the Param Vaishnava that Srila Keshava Maharaj undoubtedly is. It is sad that without knowing the history and facts of any matter there are those who wish to create emnity and discord amongst the followers of Bhagavan Sri Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Prabhupad, where none exists and would rather spend their energy in this than in real service to Sri Guru and Gauranga. Fault finding is a real obstacle to our progress in spiritual life. Perhaps we should follow the example of Christ Jesus and, "look not at the speck in anothers eye when we neglect to see the plank in our own".
