Srila Prabhupada Glorifies Sri Gaudiya Vedanta Samiti

BY ISA DAS

EDITORIAL, Apr 22 (VNN) — Srila Prabhupada glorifies the Sri Gaudiya Vedanta Samiti in the C.C.

All Glories to Guru and Gauranga. Dear Prabhus, please study the following quote from Srila Prabhupada's translation of Sri Caitanya Caritamrta, Purport:

"One party strictly followed the instructions of Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura, but another group created their own concoction about executing His desires."

Which "party" was this that "strictly followed the instructions of Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura?"

It can be none other then the Sri Gaudiya Vedanta Samiti.

We ask the thoughtful reader from whom did our Srila Prabhupada take sannyasa?

Who did Srila Prabhupada refer to as His Siksa Guru as well as His Sannyasa Guru. And after the break up of the Gaudiya Matha, whose magazines did our Srila Prabhupada write articles for?

While translating Srimad Bagavatam and Sri Bagavata Gita whose library did He use for research? Whose picture did our Srila Prabhupada request to be hung in every ISKCON Temple? And whom upon His departure did our Srila Prabhupada say "He has returned to Lord Krsna's abode?"

Which "party" did His Sannyasa Guru belong to?

Which "party" was our Srila Prabhupada a founding member of?

The answer is Srila Bhakti Prajnana Kesava Goswami and the Sri Gaudiya Vedanta Samiti.

My dear brothers and sisters, our Srila Prabhupada has said, "Everything is in my books." I present before you further proof of His statement.

I further beseech you to come forward and continue together our progressive path "Back to Godhead" under the loving care of Srila Prabhupada's intimate friend and Siksa disciple, the prominent disciple of Srila Bhakti Prajnana Kesava Goswami, Srila Bhaktivedanta Narayana Maharaja.

I also offer my humble Dandavats Pranams to all the followers of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, in particular the wonderful followers of Sri Gaudiya Matha and Sri Gaudiya Vedanta Samiti. For they are now working in a loving cooperative spirit to bring the fallen souls of Kali Yuga the Mercy of Sri Sri Radha and Krsna.

We find below one "One party strictly followed" and the other group splitting into two fighting camps. Our Srila Prabhupada says "we do not belong to any faction." Indicating that when one "strictly follows" we are "under the protection of all the predecessor acaryas." Not a sectarian organization.

C.C. Ch 12 TEXT 8

prathame ta' eka-mata acaryera gana
pache dui-mata haila daivera karana

SYNONYMS

prathame--in the beginning; ta'--however; eka-mata--one opinion; acaryera--of Advaita Acarya; gana--followers; pache--later; dui-mata--two opinions; haila--became; daivera--of providence; karana--the cause.

TRANSLATION

At first all the followers of Advaita Acarya shared a single opinion. But later they followed two different opinions, as ordained by providence.

PURPORT

The words daivera karana indicate that by dint of providence, or by God's will, the followers of Advaita Acarya divided into two parties. Such disagreement among the disciples of one acarya is also found among the members of the Gaudiya Matha. In the beginning, during the presence of Om Visnupada Paramahamsa Parivrajakacarya Astottara-sata Sri Srimad Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura Prabhupada, all the disciples worked in agreement; but just after his disappearance, they disagreed. One party strictly followed the instructions of Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura, but another group created their own concoction about executing his desires. Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura, at the time of his departure, requested all his disciples to form a governing body and conduct missionary activities cooperatively. He did not instruct a particular man to become the next acarya. But just after his passing away, his leading secretaries made plans, without authority, to occupy the post of acarya, and they split into two factions over who the next acarya would be. Consequently, both factions were asara, or useless, because they had no authority, having disobeyed the order of the spiritual master. Despite the spiritual master's order to form a governing body and execute the missionary activities of the Gaudiya Matha, the two unauthorized factions began litigation that is still going on after forty years with no decision.

Therefore, we do not belong to any faction. But because the two parties, busy dividing the material assets of the Gaudiya Matha institution, stopped the preaching work, we took up the mission of Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura and Bhaktivinoda Thakura to preach the cult of Caitanya Mahaprabhu all over the world, under the protection of all the predecessor acaryas...
