EDITORIAL  Sankirtana Is The Tried And Proven Method BY JANAKA MAHAJANA DASA  EDITORIAL, Apr 16 (VNN) — "Sankirtana is the tried and proven method of propagating all aspects of our Krishna Consciousness Movement, so continue to go out chanting in the streets as much as possible...Srila Prabhupada Letter to: Jayapataka -- Los Angeles 1 August, 1969 Spring time. Nature is waking up, birds are singing, people are happily walking down the streets of the horrible Kali-Yuga cities and towns.Nice sunny weather and the pedestrians are enchanted by the endless opportunities for the sense enjoyment. And then suddenly.... hush!!! What is it? Sound of bells? drums? Wow, these are the Hare Krishnas!!! Cool. I haven't seen them around for years!!! They are back!!! Do they have any of those sweets they used to pass around. I really like them. Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna... Dear Devotees, In most of the centres of our worldwide society chanting parties are going out regularly and it is our best preaching and advertisement. All over the world people are reconazing the devotees and appreciating the power of the chanting. If your temple, preaching or nam-hatta centre does not have a regular harinam-sankirtan party going out, please help to organize it. If you don't have any expert musicians around, this is alright, you can just take a pare of karatals and go by yourself in the nearby park. In the most cities around the world you will meet daily so many different musicians, but we don't just play a good beat music, we preach and distribute the mercy of the Lord Caitanya. Please take part in this chanting. For the past 36 years this chanting has changed our lives and it will ultimately change the face of the world. Take any opportunity to join the harinnam-sankirtan party of Lord Caitanya and Srila Prabhupada. Bright faced,shining devotees who are happily and enthusiastic chanting the Holy Names are the basics of this great movement. Let's unite all over the world for endless harinams and chanting parties. The Holy Name have changed the face of planet Earth in this Kali Yuga forever. Please continue. Thank you. your servant, Janaka Mahajana Dasa ...We are Krsna bhaktas. Therefore we do not stress so much importance on these different musical talents. Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu is God Himself. Had He thought it would have been better to spread Krsna Consciousness by another way He would have done so. But no, simply with mrdanga and karatala, traveling and chanting Hare Krsna, asking everyone to chant Hare Krsna, preaching simply Srimad-Bhagavatam philosophy, this is the process. There is no need for us to try and add anything to this simple method. It will only be a distraction. Therefore I request you to follow the simple path of Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu and help me spread this wonderful mission all over the world. Keep yourself pure and fixed up in Krsna Consciousness by following the basic principles that I have given; chanting 16 rounds daily, following the four regulative principles, rising early, attending mangala arati and classes etc. This is of the utmost importance. These outdoor kirtanas should be rigidly followed at least one hour daily. That will make our movement popular there. We have good experience here in every city, especially Los Angeles, New York, Boston, and here in Columbus. This is making our movement very popular more and more, so in any circumstances, you all go together outdoors for kirtana at least for one hour daily.
