Prabhupada Did Instruct Disciples To Become Qualified Diksa Gurus

BY MADHUDVISA DASA

EDITORIAL, Jan 1 (VNN) — I must object to Yaduraja Prabhu's recent article posted on VNN in reply to my article. If one takes the time to read the article "Krishnakant's Final Order- A Very Misleading Paper" one will find a collection of Srila Prabhupada's quotes which conclusively establish that Srila Prabhupada instructed his disciples to go on to become QUALIFIED diksa [initiating] gurus. This is the ONLY point made in my article. The article demonstrates that one (1) conclusion of KK's "Final Order" (that Srila Prabhupada did not instruct his disciples to go on to become qualified diksa gurus) is incorrect and a misrepresentation of the teachings of Srila Prabhupada.

"My article" consists of the following three paragraphs. The rest of "my article" is a collection of authorative quotations from the teachings of Srila Prabhupada that prove beyond any doubt that he instructed his disciples to go on to become qualified diksa gurus.

"My intention in this article is not to enter into the politics of the guru issue or give my own opinions or the opinions of any group of followers of Srila Prabhupada. My interest is to simply present the actual teachings of Srila Prabhupada on a specific point. The reason for this presentation is in his paper, "The Final Order," Krishna Kant has completely misrepresented the teachings of Srila Prabhupada on one specific point.

"Krishna Kant has attempted to prove that Srila Prabhupada did not intend any of his disciples to become diksa [initiating] gurus, ever. This is his unique addition to the ritvik philosophy. He has attempted to prove this point by selectively quoting from Srila Prabhupada and using much word jugglery. This rather bizarre philosophy is unique to Krishna Kant and his few followers. It is not shared by the general body of the followers of Srila Prabhupada.

"We have on a number of occasions presented clear irrefutable evidence of Srila Prabhupada issuing specific orders to his disciples on become qualified diska gurus. However Krishna Kant is not prepared to even consider Srila Prabhupada's direct instructions on the matter and accept that his paper misrepresents the teachings of Srila Prabhupada on this point."

However Yaduraja Prabhu most misleadingly states:

"Madhudvisa Das has written a paper entitled "Krishnakant's Final Order- A Very Misleading Paper" in which he disputes the conclusions of "The Final Order". As we all know this paper demonstrates from Signed directives that Srila Prabhupada did not authorize his disciples to initiate their own disciples within ISKCON, but only to operate a ritvik initiation system with himself remaining the sole, institutional diksa Guru.

Madhudvisa states that such a conclusion is 'very misleading', and that Krishnakant, the paper's author, is a 'crazy fellow' for stating this."

Here we find a perfect example of the IRM "style." He has COMPLETELY misrepresented what I have said in the article! My paper clearly states that the "Final Order's" conclusion that Srila Prabhupada did not instruct his disciples to go on to become qualified diksa gurus was very misleading. That is the only point my paper makes.

Not finding anything he can comment on in my article Yaduraja has searched through private email messages which were not sent to him and are not related to this article. He changes the subject from my article to my emails...Which have NOTHING to do with the point the article brings up at all.

As Yaduraja Prabhu has mentioned I do not disagree with the ritvik system Srila Prabhupada established for continuing initiations in ISKCON in his July 9th letter and I have no argument with the presentation of this subject matter in the "Final Order." However, this philosophy was not introduced by the "Final Order." All of these points have been explained by so many devotees prior to KK. KK's addition is the philosophy that Prabhupada did not intend any of his disciples to go on to become qualified diksa gurus, ever.

The only single point my paper mentions is that Prabhupada did, on many occasions, instruct his disciples to go on to become QUALIFIED diksa gurus and the "Final Order" leads one to believe he didn't do that at all. This is a most misleading and incorrect presentation of the teachings of Srila Prabhupada.

In grand IRM style Yaduraja Prabhu has presented a fantastic article that does not even touch on this point. He provides no refutation of any of the quotes from Srila Prabhupada [which is practically all my paper consists of.] He simply changes the subject and talks of so many unrelated things and insults and criticizes me in so many ways.

So it is a most misleading article from Yaduraja...

My article concludes with the statement:

"I expect Krishna Kant will come back with pages of nonsense meant to divert the readers attention from the points Srila Prabhupada has clearly established here and claim "I have defeated Madhudvisa." But we will leave it to the thoughtful readers to decide who has actually been defeated."

So Yaduraja Prabhu has given us pages of irrelevant comments. He has tried to completely distract the reader from the actual subject matter of my article. He claims my article makes conclusions it does not make at all. And he levels so much personal criticism at me.

So, we leave it to the thoughtful readers to understand what is going on here...

Chant Hare Krishna and be happy!

Your servant
