Another Perspective

BY AMEYATMA DAS

EDITORIAL, Oct 11 (VNN) — I ask the question whether non-Jews should be forced to pay the price of Zionism?

I also point out that US/British and UN policy toward Israel is and has been a RELIGIOUS policy, not a political or humanitarian one. It has not just been the Jews who want Zion, a sovereign Israel, but it has also been the fundamental Christians, as it is prophicized in the New Testament Bible that Israel will rise again as a nation prior to Armagodon and the second coming of Christ. Christians fully support, from a pure religious motive, to see Israel stand as a sovereign nation. But, my point is that this has crossed over the legal line of separation of church and state. That as a non-Jew and non-Christian, I am neutral toward Zionism, and so should be the policy of the US government. Either that, or they should openly declare that in this one issue that the US is acting to carry out Judaic-Christian policy, not non-sectarian policy. And they should openly declare this as a Religious or Holy War.

At the very least, non-Jews and non-Christian soldiers, such as Islamic, Hindu, Hare Krsna, Buddhists, etc., should be allowed to refuse to participate in the religious war, to defend the religious policies of a religion which is not their own.

PS: I know that a some of the devotees reading this are from Jewish backgrounds and some maintain sentiment to that faith. I am not anti-Jewish, and i am not opposed to there being an Israel nation - at all.

But, it is not my fight, it is not my religion. The problem is, our country is being dragged into a Holy - Religious War for supporting a Jewish / Christian cause. I have every right to voice my objection and to reject the idea of being a willing participant. I don't have a problem with Zionism, but i do have a problem if i and my family and our nation is being called on to pay the price for it. If I must pay, I prefer to pay my taxes to support the glorification of Srila Prabhupad, to revive KC and VAD in the world, to rebuild the Holy Places. I would rather pay to re-resurrect a temple on the birth place of Krsna they to pay for re-resurrecting the Israel nation.
