EDITORIAL  A Rare Gem BY JAGAT CANDRA DAS EDITORIAL, Apr 26 (VNN) — A word of Caution to devotees on all sides of the various issues Consider this: You meet a total stranger in a strange & isolated part of the world.He gets talking & you discover that he has concluded that the entire manifestation of the Universe has to have been the handiwork of some kind of a Supreme Personality of Godhead. He then shows you an old copy of a book by Srila Prabhupada ! He also adds that he chants the Mahamantra every day!
Can anything make you happier? Of all the crazy concepts on the Absolute & all their followers - from Nothingness to Oneness to Big Bangs, etc. this man has decided on this ! Is he not a RARE person? A treasure? Yes - indeed. This person is a gem. Anyone who chants the mahamantra having arrived at a vaisnava conclusion is a Rare person & is a Gem - (A Chintamani) There is no shortage of quotes to prove this in the Shastra. So lets not forget, a devotee is a Rare Gem. Whether a Guruvadi, a Ritvik, a Narayan Maharaj follower or a new Bhakta or an ex-devotee. You may have disagreements on many finer points. But all along we must never forget that the person is in agreement with you on 99% of what you have concluded in life ! Because of which he is as dear to Lord Krsna as you are. Closer to you than family ! Please keep that in mind when you disagree or fight. Do not get carried off with the issue at hand. See the larger picture. Apply at least a fraction of that spirit of overlooking major flaws that we develope for some Karmi as we bend over backwards to fuss over him cause he said he is thinking of being a vegetarian !
