EDITORIAL  Narottama Das BY NRSINHA DAS EDITORIAL, Nov 14 (VNN) — Dear readers, I wish to write on the behalf of Narottama das of Santa Cruz California. Narattoma is very sick, therefore he was not doing any external, practical service in the temple. Where he was residing. His disease is candida and he was being treated by his god sister Krsna Lata devi dasi from heavenly water sanctuary, Hawaii and other doctors. Being considered lazy they removed him from the temple two years ago, no longer allowing him to honor prasada or take darshan of deities. His only attachment is to chant the holy name and to see dieties. If he was an ordinary person he would have left that place and somehow maintained himself but actually what is really maintaining him is the chanting of the holy name and taking darshan of the dieities. Nama gane sada ruci laya krsna nama "due to having great relish for the holy name one is inclined to chant the hare krsna maha mantra constantly" S. C.C. Madhya lila 23.32 Therefore, chant the holy name and consider it your sole objective. Don't consider other means of sadhana. Sri bha jana rahasya p. 102. Nor only do the criticise Narottama as lazy or mad but also as sahajiya. We can accept that he is mad and lazy because these are the symptoms of candida but why sahajiya? Is it because he likes to chant so constatly that even while bathing he continues chanting the maha mantra. Or is it because sometimes he abstains from eating for one or two days or even for three days due to his attachment to the holy name? He is considered sahajiya, because although a very quiet person by nature he only speaks about the lord and thus filling others heart's with nectar and sraddha? He is considered sahajyia because even being removed from temple he has insisted on remaining in the area ofthe temple . "O best of the bharatas! The holy name of hari can be always present in the mouth of only who has perfectly worshipped vasudeva for hundreds of previous births." Hari bhakti vilasa. Though i have travelled extensively i have not seen anywhere a sahajyia like Narottama das even though he has been rejected and neglected by others even sleeping outdoors in the forest under the very cold conditions of Santa Cruz and passing days without water or food still he continues chanting the holy name without complaint or criticising even those who are criticising him. At the time that Narottama dasa was living outdoors in the forest area surrouding the temple he again tried to take darshan of the dieties, then on 2nd of november 2000 the police were called to catch him and put him in prison. Still Narottama remains imprisoned in county jail of Santa Cruz 259 water St 95060 California. I bow dow to S.Bhakti Sundar Govinda Maharaj thousands times, birth after birth because he is very dear to A.C.Bhaktivedanta Swami Maharaj and S.R.Sridar Dev Goswami maharaj and he is the diksa guru of Narottama das . I only wish that he may know the condition of his narottam das.His only crime to become ill and have unflinching attachment and devotion to the holy name and to his beloved dieties Sri Sri Sandarvika Ghiridhari.
