Vishnu Bhaktas And Alternative Sciences

BY DEAN DE LUCIA/DHARMAPADA DASA

EDITORIAL, Jan 26 (VNN) — So often in the off-mainstream, alternative avenues of news and information, we see debunking going on in relation to things such as the Apollo-landings, the theory of evolution, and UFO-ology, and there seems to be cover-ups as well in relation to things such as NASA satellite pictures and the hollow Earth. This type of alternative news naturally piques our curiosity, but the question arises, why should a Vishnu bhakta concern him or herself?

In the Sixth chapter, tenth verse of Gita, doesn't Shree Krishna tell us that a yogi " should live alone in a secluded place ... and be free from desires and feelings of possessiveness"? We already know that the materialists jockey for position amongst themselves and engage in various machinations to take over the world. We know this because we can see it and because Shree Krishna confirms this in the 16th chapter of Gita.

But just as Krishna teaches us that the spiritual world is a world of variety, there are a variety of perspectives, too. For example, the Vaishnava literature tells us that a devotee should remain humble if he himself be criticised or attacked, but that that same devotee should react like a lion if another devotee were attacked in some way. And doesn't Krishna, in the very same Bhagavad Gita, urge Arjuna to fight under various religious and moral justifications?

So for what reason should a devotee of Vishnu/Krishna bother taking up the fight against the propaganda of those institutions, scientific and otherwise, which present untruths? The devotee should do so in order to preserve and protect his belief system. Otherwise, his belief system will be minimised more and more until it ends up being eliminated altogether.

In fact, every religion suffers due to the pragmatic presentation of Darwinian biologists and chemists. They claim that consciousness is generated from matter. What's worse is that their claims are presented in our educational systems as if they were already proven fact. This is so even though no scientist has created consciousness in a laboratory. If we give the atheist enough chemicals, can he combine them and produce consciousness? The answer is no. But this other side of the coin is never presented in mainstream science, and one has to venture far to hear what our scientific, educational and governmental institutions silence.

One of this writer's favorite examples has to do with the British conquest of India. They deciphered Sanskrit and interpreted the Puranas. They read about flying vehicles, weapons which persue enemies, arrows which drill into the ground and weapons activated by mantra. With their rational attitudes the British made a mockery of the Vedas. But now we witness aircraft, guided weapons, voice-activated weapons and the U.S. armed forces are experimenting with missiles which drill into the ground several hundred meters before exploding their warheads. So now we have a different perspective on these Vedic descriptions.

In the same way, we now face a different challenge. For example, the Puranas describe luxurient vegetation on the Moon as well as beautiful gardens, lakes and parks. But Apollo astronauts have supposedly gone to the Moon and found no life and no water, either. This would seem to spell the end of any creedence that one could put in the Puranas, and from that point onwards, Vedic dharma becomes a laughing stock. Even so, when A C. Bhaktivedanta Swami was informed that astronomers had sent astronauts to the Moon and had reported that there was no life, he answered that " They are hardly conversant with the planet on which they are living " and " They never went to the Moon." This was back in the early 70s.

Now, 30 years later, when we investigate alternate analyses on the Apollo landings, what do we find? We find obvious incongruencies. We find pictures of the LEM rocket engine sitting a meter above the Lunar soil, with no disturance underneath from its blast. We find pictures of both astronauts on the same film, hands free, with the LEM in the background, but with no one apparently taking the picture! We see astronauts on the surface of the Moon, with shadows of different lengths angling off in different directions- all this with one light source shining from one direction, the Sun. On the site of kksamurai, there are obvious constructions of artificial origin brought out in the photographs which he presents. Donna Tietze, a former NASA employee at the Johnson Space Flight Center, offered the following testimony in a radio interview with WOL radio in Washington, D.C., on May 6, 1995. ( Transcripts available from WOL Radio ).

"During the Apollo mission I worked at NASA throughout those Apollo missions and I did leave NASA at the time the space shuttles began. I worked in building eight in the photo lab. I had a secret clearance so I thought I could go anywhere in the building. And I did go into one area that was a restricted area. In this area they developed pictures taken from satelites and also all of the missions, the Apollo missions, flight missions. I went in and I was talking to one of the photographers and developers and he was putting together a mosaic which is a lot of photos, smaller photos into a larger photo pattern. And while I was in there I was trying to learn new methods and new things about the whole organization and I was looking at the pictures and he directed my attention to one area, he said, Look at that. I looked and there was a round oval shaped, well it was very white circular shape of a dot and I, it was black & white photography, so I asked him if that was a spot on the emulsion and he said, well I can't tell you but spots on the emulsion do not leave round circles of shadows.

E.D.: So there was a shadow on the ground? D.T.: Right, a round shadow! And I noticed that there were pine trees, now I don't know where this area was or what, you, pretty close to the ground what I saw but I didn't see outline of the continent. But I did notice that thre was shadow under this white dot and I also noticed that the trees were casting the shadows in the same direction as this shadow of the circle of this aerial phenomena because it was higher than the trees but not too much higher than the trees but it was close to the ground and it was spherical but slightly elongated, not very much but slightly. I then said, is it a UFO? And he said, Well I can't tell you. And then I asked him, what are you going to do with this piece of information? And he said, well we have to airbrush these things out before we sell these photographs to the public. So I realized at that point that there is a procedure setup to take care of this type of information from the public."

World-wide cover ups by the powers that be seem to be implicit when we talk about false Moon landings or doctored up NASA space photos. Maybe investigations along these lines will help help people to see through the labyrinth of lies surrounding many aspects of mainstream science and conserve their faith in their Puranic heritage.

In a similar vein to Apollo debunkers, Dr. Richard L. Thompson ( aka Sadaputa Dasa ) of the Bhaktivedanta Institute has done admirable yeoman service. In his book Vedic Cosmography, Dr. Thompson applies modern measurements and rational justification to the planetary orbits described in the Puranas. The video Mysterious Orbits presents the same with beautiful graphics. In Alien Identities, Dr. Thompson defines modern UFO phenomena by presenting the testimonies of witnesses in relation to UFOs, extra terrestrial races, and activities such as abductions, then relates them to Vedic accounts of the same, and even gives Vedic names for the various extra terrestrial races.

His book Forbidden Archaeology tears to shreads any supposed chronology of evolution from cavemen to modern man by introducing suppressed evidence, and Mechanistic and Non Mechanistic Science dispells the idea of consciousness originating from matter. The readership of VNN might already have some idea of the above truths, although it is important to actually learn the various pros and cons; this will help one to articulate a defense of one's belief in the Vedic literature.

However, there is probably not a one Indian nor Western devotee of Krishna among the readership of VNN who has ever imagined that the Earth is hollow, or that there could be any scientific justification for this, what to speak of observational support. But the reader might be surprised by clicking onto: http://www.hollowplanets.com . The table of contents at the heading offers summarizations, and one can always leave a message at the message center or sign in at the guest book.
