CALENDAR  Hilo Ratha-Yatra August 1st 2003 BY VIDAGDHA MADHAVA DAS  HILO, HAWAII, Aug 1 (VNN) — The 3rd annual Hilo Ratha Yatra will take place on Friday afternoon, August 1st, 2003. We are turning this year's celebration into into a mini-festival by offering accommodations for about 10 devotees,free of charge, Thursday and Friday night here on the Big Island. We are especially interested in expert kirtan leaders for the parade from the other islands or even the mainland.Anyone who is interested can contact me at 808-935-4905 so we can make arrangements for the visiting devotees. The accommodations will necessarily be on a first-come, first-served basis. A diverse group of devotees have participated in the Festival of the Pacific parade for 7 years now and have been given awards by the parade judges and have received an enthusiastic response from the locals here. This year, the Lord of the Universe's Rath cart will have new additions to the retractable tower and our post parade festival will be at the bandstand across from downtown Hilo.
