Papaharinidevi dasi was raised in Laguna Beach, California during the sixties and met Krsna Consciousness in 1967 at age of eight years old. Timothy Leary was a neighbor and would encourage the neighbor kids to chant Hare Krsna to remove the affects of LSD by holding kirtan with small finger symbols. She read Christopher Isherwood's blue Bhagavad Gita in 3rd grade before finding ISKCON. She first met the devotees that summer in Laguna while they held prasadam distribution (caramel popcorn balls) during a Love-In on Main Beach. Popular spots in town were Love Animals Don't Eat Them, and Mystic Arts where she came in regular contact with devotees selling incense sticks and pamphlets to passing hippies.

In 1971 she left a comfortable home with loving parents to get away from the constant barrage of drug opportunities and peer pressure, visited American Samoa and went to live on Kauai. At age 14 she joined the Beyond Mystic Liquid Hare Krsna Temple in Kapaa, Kauai, run by Balakeya and Phenop prabhus (both initiated by ACBSP) who were followers of Siddha Svarupa Ananda Goswami. The local beach kirtans lasted for several hours and hosted hundreds of visitors for prasadam. Hearing of Srila Prabhupada's arrival back in Honolulu, she left Kauai and moved into the ISKCON Honolulu at Ala Aloa Loop, in Manoa Valley. She later received her initiations from Prabhupada in 1974, age 16 and Brahmin initiation, age 18. She has continued to rise and fall with daily sadhana/vows to present day. Currently she maintains regular deity puja of Krsna- Balarama (12 yrs.) and struggles to chant all rounds while working full time and attending school. She lives in complete isolation from devotees and relies on email and reading Prabhupada's books for association.

Today she in studying for college degrees in Oregon. Since leaving ISKCON in 1992, she has finished training:

Her devotional aspirations are to publish academic textbook curriculum for gurukula students 4th grade through 12th grade, create home-study programs, assist devotees in coming to terms with abuse issues, gain a seat on UN counsel, and to travel and assist interested people to reinstall the gurukula education system in their communities.
